América Móvil and Nokia will be bringing a top of the line messaging experience via multiple devices to customers in Latin America. The agreement, the first Latin America-wide one, adds to the collaboration between both companies in music and maps so as to meet the growing demand for multimedia options on mobile devices in the region. Through the link-up the Nokia Messaging solution will be available to América Móvil customers in seven countries before the end of the year.
"Messaging is ready for exponential growth in Latin America...we will be leading in this space," said Marco Quatorze, Head of Value Added Services, América Móvil. "Collaboration with Nokia in the messaging space is one of the strategies we are pursuing to drive this growth."
Blanca Juti, Nokia Vice-President for the América Móvil Account, said: "We are delighted to make this announcement with América Móvil. This collaboration is a good example of how Nokia is extending its vision of Connecting People. Together with América Móvil, Nokia Messaging will deliver on the promise of mobile messaging for everyone in the region."
Through Nokia Messaging, América Móvil customers will be able to aggregate and manage multiple email accounts while on the move in a single application, using a very intuitive user interface. The Nokia Messaging solution is simple to set up and consumers can access up to ten personal email accounts. Many users want to enjoy the flexibility of different accounts for each of their communities. With Nokia Messaging, people get the benefit of real-time messaging and are able to read, send, forward and reply to emails, view subfolders, download and read attachments and also attach files to emails in real time using a Nokia device.
América Móvil and Nokia have agreed to launch Nokia Messaging first in five countries this summer with the Nokia E63, Nokia E71 Black, Nokia E72 and Nokia E75. These devices will include the licence for Nokia Messaging, which will be promoted in attractive data plans together with América Móvil.
"We are seeing a great response to our smartphones in Latin America - like the Nokia E71- which focus on mobility. Additionally, the market is showing strong interest in advanced features like messaging, music, GPS and cameras," Blanca Juti continued. "Our extended collaboration with América Móvil is bringing an advanced multimedia experience to users faster."
