Following yesterday’s news that CG NET will deploy a new fibre-to-the-home network across the Kathmandu Valley, Nokia has confirmed that it is the sole supplier for the system.
The Finnish vendor will deploy its Gigabit Passive Optical Networking (GPON) solution across an area of 5000 square kilometres, allowing CG NET to cost-effectively scale its operations in line with the growing demand for a high-speed broadband network due to increased consumption of video, OTT content, and online education.
Nokia's solution will enable CG NET to offer the fastest broadband speeds in the market, making it a competitive player for IPTV, gaming, remote work and remote education. In addition, it will allow for efficient future upgrades to next-generation technologies and Software-Defined Access networks, leveraging the same access platform.
