International service provider and global operator Sparkle says it has expanded its reach in Brazil with an additional point of presence (POP) in Fortaleza, the capital of the north-eastern Brazilian state of Ceara.
With this second PoP in Fortaleza – and fourteenth in the country – Sparkle says it is further improving connectivity within Brazil and across the Americas.
Sparkle already has a presence in São Paulo, Rio De Janeiro, and Salvador and, as we reported in November 2020, Porto Alegre. The company says the new POP will also consolidate its position as a leading global Tier-1 backbone in Latin America and one of the main providers in the Americas.
The PoP is fully integrated with Sparkle’s global Tier-1 IP backbone Seabone that boasts extensive coverage in Central and South America with points of presence in Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Chile, Colombia, Panama, Peru, Puerto Rico and Venezuela.
In addition, thanks to its terrestrial and submarine networks, including two “digital highways” – Seabras-1 cable in the Atlantic and Curie in the Pacific – Sparkle offers four diversified routes for connectivity from South to North America, ensuring, it says, complete redundancy and a top-quality data experience.
At the new PoP, enterprises, network providers, ISPs, OTTs, content and application providers can benefit from the full range of Sparkle’s IP portfolio including the IP transit service Seabone, Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) protection – which grants customers the option to self-protect their networks from attacks – and virtual NAP, which allows access to the main internet exchange points (IXPs) without the need to build any proprietary infrastructure.
