Telecom Argentina modernises with Subex, Accenture input

A major new service fulfillment contract to modernise Telecom Argentina's raft of services has been awarded to Subex and Accenture. Key aims are the wider distribution of broadband, a much higher profile for IP services and rapidly-accessible Ethernet-based services.

Operations Support Systems (OSS) provider Subex and Accenture have implemented the first phase of a multi-technology activation solution for Telecom Argentina, one of Argentina's largest telecommunications groups. The solution will help ensure IP services dominance, enable rapid delivery of Ethernet-based services and accelerate growth in broadband.

Leveraging Subex's Service Fulfillment platform, the three-phase, multi-million dollar project is the main component of an ambitious transformation strategy being undertaken by Telecom Argentina. The first phase, which went live in April 2007, provides Telecom Argentina flow-through provisioning of its IP-VPN services and facilitates the assurance processes. Accenture, sharing the project integration with Telecom, will implement the suite of Subex products for activation solutions, align existing resources (networks, services and equipments), and provide ongoing support and assistance.

Subex is providing all the discovery, upload and activation functionality necessary to enable flow-through provisioning of services for IP VPN, Ethernet and DSL, making it possible for Telecom Argentina to rapidly define, deploy and fulfill advanced service offerings. This is expected to help Telecom Argentina keep pace with corporate and competitive growth, and reduce provisioning time and operations expenditures.

"This project supports our corporate mission to continue providing unparalleled service and innovation to our corporate and residential customers," said Guillermo Desimoni, CIO, Telecom Argentina. "Accelerating the evolution of our network and the introduction of new services is paramount to our continued growth and profitability. Telecom Argentina will achieve several important business benefits by implementing Subex's solutions, including automation of the complex tasks required to deliver new revenue-generating data services and the industry's lowest total cost of ownership."

Telecom Argentina, Accenture and Subex anticipate this project to be the first of many as part of a strong, three-way partnership.
